About

Who’s behind FloraCure — and how the diagnosis actually works.

FloraCure is built by a small team of one in Verona, Italy, with a simple goal: when your plant looks sick, you should get a specific, actionable answer in seconds — not an afternoon of contradictory forum threads.

The person

FloraCure is designed, built and maintained by Mohsen Maaleki, a software developer based in Verona, Italy. Every guide on this site is written and edited by him, drawing on the same sources the app itself uses. He is also the named data controller in our privacy policy — the same person is accountable for the product, the content and your data.

How the AI diagnosis works

When you scan a plant, FloraCure sends your photo to a state-of-the-art vision AI model (Google Gemini, paid tier — your photos are not used to train Google’s models). The model analyzes leaf color, spots, texture, wilting and visible pests, then combines that with your local weather — temperature, humidity, UV and soil conditions — because the same symptom can mean different things in different climates.

Every diagnosis comes back with:

Where the data comes from

The plant library’s safety and toxicity notes are sourced from the ASPCA’s toxic and non-toxic plant lists and poison-control references — each plant page in the app cites its source. Care information draws on horticultural references including the Royal Horticultural Society and the Missouri Botanical Garden, and the guides on this site additionally cite university extension services where relevant.

What FloraCure is not

Honesty matters more than marketing: AI diagnosis is a powerful screening tool, not a certified plant pathologist. Confidence scores exist because the model can be wrong — especially with poor photos, rare species or unusual disease presentations. For high-value plants or commercial crops, treat FloraCure’s answer as a strong first opinion and consult a professional agronomist. And for anything involving a pet that has chewed a plant, call your vet or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 first — not an app.

The business model, plainly

FloraCure is free to try — you get free scans without entering a card. Premium (unlimited diagnoses, weather-based disease alerts, smart reminders) will be a single straightforward subscription; we’ll publish the price when the app launches. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and your plant photos are processed transiently for diagnosis, not stored for training. Details in the privacy policy and terms.
